The Story Behind Every JJ Timber Table

From England to Jimboomba

At JJ Timber Design, we’re a family business. We believe in good craftsmanship, community, and making wooden tables that bring people together to make memories.

Eight years ago, we packed our bags and decided to backpack around Australia!  We fell in love with the place and luckily got offered sponsorship when Jay fell pregnant so we could make it home!  We moved to Queensland in late 2020 and in February 2021, we turned one of James’ ideas into a business: JJ Timber Design. It started small, in our Logan Village backyard. Now we have a proper workshop in Jimboomba, where we build timber picnic tables and outdoor furniture for families, schools, cafes and communities all across South East Queensland.

Jay looks after the workshop day to day, making sure every table is built with care and made to last. James handles the deliveries from his business JJ Freight Solutions.

How We Build

Every table starts with a choice of timber. We use treated pine for a budget-friendly option, or premium hardwood like spotted gum, blackbutt or Pacific teak if you want something built to last even longer. We use strong joints and galvanised fittings, then finish each table so it can handle the Aussie weather. Want something different? We can also do custom sizes, different finishes like varnish, stain or paint, and extras like an umbrella hole or laser engraving.

Why We Do This

Our biggest inspiration is our two daughters. They remind us every day why we work hard and keep dreaming bigger. They love hanging around the workshop, sawdust and all!

We’re proud to be part of our local community who continue to support us through it all. We employ a small team of local craftspeople who care about doing good work, just like we do. We’re not just building furniture, we’re building memories, and pieces that are made to last.
