Commercial Tables for Construction Sites and Long Term Projects

Table of Contents

Commercial tables for a construction site are a different purchase to a backyard table, even when they are built from the same range. One gets delivered to a house and used by a family for years. The other gets ordered against a purchase order, delivered to a site with a gate code and a foreman, and used by a rotating crew for however long the job runs.

Here is what actually changes when you are buying commercial tables for a site rather than a home.

Ordering on an account, not a checkout

Most of our customers pay at checkout on the day. A construction company usually cannot, and should not have to. Give us a call, let us know your requirements.  We will work with you to ensure you get what you need and within the timeframe you need.  We can then invoice you in stages if required.

Ask early rather than assuming it works the same way as a retail order. The paperwork is often the slower part of a commercial purchase, not the build.

Freight to a site, not a house

A house has one delivery, once. A site can need furniture staged across more than one trip, as different stages of a build reach the point where amenity areas open up, and it can need a fixed arrival window rather than any day that suits the courier.

Delivery is typically one to five business days across South East Queensland once a table is built, and three to ten business days interstate. That timeframe does not change because the destination is a site instead of a house, but the access does. A truck that reverses easily into a suburban driveway cannot always get into an active site, so tell us about site access, whether there is a forklift or a couple of people to unload, and whether there is a fixed delivery window, before you order rather than after.

What makes a commercial table hold up on a site?

A table that lives in one backyard and a commercial table used by a different crew every few months are not carrying the same load. The heavy duty build uses a thicker board than the standard table, which is the clearest signal of whether something is a commercial table built to survive being sat on, stood on and moved around a site for years, or just a home table pressed into the wrong job. Galvanised hardware and solid joinery do the rest of the work, the same way they do on any of our commercial furniture.

How long it needs to last?

In commercial use, where a table gets more traffic but also gets looked after as part of someone's routine, a well built table generally lasts ten years or more. Workmanship  warranty is the other half of that answer, and it is worth settling before this goes anywhere near a construction buyer, because it is usually the first thing a procurement person asks.

Buying for more than one site

A dozen identical tables is a more efficient run for us than a dozen different ones, and that shows up in the price. If you are running more than one site, or the same build across several projects, ask about that rather than pricing each order as though it is the only one we will get from you.

Questions we get asked by site buyers

Can you invoice against a purchase order?

Absolutely! Let us know if you would like us to invoice.  Our payment terms are 50% upfront and 50% on or before delivery or collection.

Do you deliver to an active site?

Yes. Tell us about access before you order, since that is what determines whether a standard truck can get in or whether we need to plan around it.

What is the difference between the heavy duty build and the standard one?

Board thickness. It is the clearest sign of whether a table is built for a family backyard or for a site or venue that will be in constant use. A heavy duty is 45mm thick and is premium treated pine.  Our standard is 35mm thick with standard treated pine.

Do you offer trade pricing on volume orders?

We would be happy to offer you a bulk discount! A dozen identical tables costs less per table than a dozen different ones, so ask once you know your numbers.

    Where to start

Tell us the site, the numbers and the timing. Our commercial page has more on the commercial tables we build for venues, sites and public spaces beyond the standard range, and our picnic table range shows current builds including the heavy duty option.
